15th sept . On the road again, this time we are going to Berlin in Germany. It would be the beginning of a two show case with Asrai, Autumn, Epica and After Forever.. and they called it:
Dutch Gothic Metal Night.
Together with Epica we stayed at the Mecure Templehof Hotel
We arrived "early" but still all shops were closed...
While making some plans for dinner and exploring Berlin's nightlife,
we bumped into Oele and in the end we crashed at the Mecure hotel bar..
We didn't get much further...
1st Day: 16th September
The next morning we made a day schedule. And for the afternoon, it was a tight one. We had to be at Popkomm at 15.00 hrs so in the morning time enough to go to the X-tra.
Taking the U-bahn and it took loads of time to get all tickets.
Time isn't always your best friend, so in hurry we went back to the hotel... and found out that we didn't' know where Popkomm was held. After a short explanation we jumped in our van and got lost and stucked in a trafficjam. It took us almost an hour to get there.
Walking around at Popkomm , we had a short chat with MTV and got a cake, gladly enough not in our face....

Een record aantal Nederlandse acts laat van zich horen op de komende editie van Popkomm in Berlijn. Meer dan vijftien bands zijn uitgenodigd voor de muzikale happening die plaatsvindt van 14 tot 16 september 2005.Face Tomorrow, The Apers, Alamo Race Track, Green Lizard, Solo, Krezip, Gem, Voicst, The Sheer, Blues Brother Castro, After Forever, Epica, Autumn, Asrai, T-99 en Mist zullen allemaal een showcase verzorgen in Berlijn.
Onder het motto "Music Meets Here" is Popkomm een van de belangrijkste Europese muziekbeurzen. Op de 2005-editie verschijnen meer dan 15.000 professionals van ruim 1600 organisaties uit 41 verschillende landen.

After our sound check it was time for a little snack (dinner) and before we knew it. It was time to Goth Rock.

Up to a "long" trip to Osnabrück
2nd Day: 17th September
We had the gig at the Haus der Jugend, after signing the flags and posters for a contest from sounds2move. .
We did our sound check. And gladly enough we had some food on the way to Osnabrück, because there was no time left for dinner... The show started really early, because the whole Dutch Gothic Metal party had to end at 23.00 hrs...
19.00 hrs let's get started....
Dutch Gothic Metal Night mit: Asrai & Autumn & Epica & After Forver
Wer hätte das gedacht!? Da kommt man aus der Gothic Metal Szene und hat von den auftretenden Künstlern kaum etwas gehört, aber der Eintritt betrug stolze 18 Euronen. Ich war gespannt, ob sich die Investition lohnen würde...
Die Musik der vier Acts lehnt sich stark an Nightwish" und Within Temptation" an. Auffallend ist das starke Gefälle bei den vier Bands zwischen Rock und Metal. Nach kurzer Recherche las ich, dass es dieses Konzert nur zweimal in Deutschland gibt. Einmal in Berlin auf der Popcom und einmal halt in OS-City! Daher pilgerten also einige der Zuschauer extra aus Dortmund und Bremen! Carlos Konzerte" haben uns also wieder einen einmaligen Leckerbissen bereitet!
Um 19.00 Uhr betraten Asrai die Bühne.
Die kleine Zuschauer-Schar wurde mit einer rockigen Show unterhalten. Vielleicht durch die Ursprünge im Punk konnten Asrai mit einer lebendigen Live-Darbietung auf der Bühne punkten. Diese wurde von den "Osna-Metalern" im Publikum begeistert unterstützt, während der Rest des Publikums noch nicht ganz aufgetaut schien.
Das Songwriting gefiel mir sofort und die Songs wurden auch alle professionell präsentiert. So spielte Bassist Martin auf seinem "Rickenbacker" abwechslungsreiche Melodien, Drummerin Karin beließ es bei treibenden aber eingängigen Schlagzeugbeats und Keyboarderin Manon arbeitete mit allerlei interessanten Samples.
Als sich Asrai dann nach ihrem Auftritt unters Publikum mischten, war kein Halten mehr. Tumultartig scharten sich Fans um die Band, Fotohandys wurden gezückt, Autogramme verteilt und die Frisuren einiger Fans erhielten spontan den Asrai-typischen Look mit zwei Zöpfen.

And before we knew it, we found ourselves in the van again on the way back to Holland.
